oh where, oh where, has the blog posting gone...

oh where, oh where is cg…

sorry. couldn’t help that.

well, here’s what i’ve been up to. perhaps this will assuage my no-posting guilt and allow me to just bravely move onward. i left off, dear readers, in mid June immediately following the end of the spring academic quarter (which precipitated all my blogging, since i was required to blog – in another place – for my class, as you may know), a visit by my sister, and a trip to Ravinia with PH and CP to see Seu Jorge and Cesaria Evora. following that …

  • went to DC for the ALA Annual meeting. i am thinking i will post on my other blog about the actual professional content of that, in which case i’ll link it back here. otherwise, that trip was notable for a trip to the International Spy Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, bumping into a number of grad school colleagues i hadn’t seen in years which was a treat… and a little dinner at Michel Richard Citronelle, which i documented on Flickr.
  • upon returning, another trip to Ravinia, this time with Bro Mark, to see Lyle Lovett and k.d. lang. a delightful show. k.d. lang has the most amazing, truest voice i might have ever heard, perfectly clear regardless of volume or note. she really does sing like an angel, though i know that’s a trite comparison. Lyle was his usual self-deprecating, dry-humored self and had brought his Large Band along … a great show.
  • promptly, the next day, headed back home to Indiana where i spent a week catching up with family and whatnot. always good to be able to spend some time with my parents and my sister, and the rest of the family too, but especially them. apparently i was missed because Ellie demanded that i sit on the floor so she could crawl into my lap and gnaw my arm. this, friends, is love. and it had only been two weeks! 🙂
  • started teaching my section of 627a, finding and managing information – a two credit hour graduate class focused on getting people up to speed on library research skills. we meet three times: one half day and two full days. one meeting left at the time of posting. this has kept me busy with preparing materials, grading, responding, monitoring the message boards …
  • last week was rather a whirlwind, actually. i’m working an evening for the summer, so that moves your schedule around a bit; stopped to see Francis and check on the state of his foot — Kim seems to be holding up too :); wednesday was the opening night of OOTP – which gets its own post; thursday i went to a Paper Source Girls Night Out with Cat, which was AWESOME, we made three demos, met some nice folks, saw HK and her crew; i worked on Saturday and then yesterday my grandma was in town on her way up to Wisconsin and parts North so i had she and Elaine and Marcia over for dinner.

phew! and that doesn’t even cover what’s been going on at work, which is a lot. no wonder i haven’t been posting. sorry. i will try and do better, short blasts, that sort of thing. but if you wondered what i’ve been doing, well, there you go. and when i am tired i am useless as a blog poster or an email writer, so if you haven’t heard from me much, that’s why. when i’ve been home and unplanned i have just been crashing mostly.
