Time magazine has published a photo essay titled, “What the World Eats” — definitely check it out. Or, skip right to the source, a book titled Hungry Planet by Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio.
I was struck by the proportion of fresh vs prepared or processed foods represented in the different areas of the world; and also noticed, particularly, the soda consumed vs. water or something else.
I’m going to have to check out that book, because I can feel this little slideshow already telling me it’s time to get perspective again on my life versus the lives of others on this world of ours — once again, need to fight that battle against being fat and lazy in my outlook and not just, ahem, anywhere else.

What an interesting photo essay. I was struck by how much processed food that westernized countries eat vs. developing nations.

I was struck by the pop consumption as well. The sheer quantity was kind of depressing.
